Finished the ebook I've been talking about. Titled 'How to Write Articles People Want to Read'. Took me 90 days to get the ebook written, website built, sales letter crafted, and the shopping cart hooked up to process orders.
<img src="http://www.articlemarketingmaverick.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/How-To-Write-Articles-People-Want-To-Read-cover.jpg" width="160" height="201" title="" alt=""align="right" vspace="1" hspace="1">
I could have done it faster. For instance, I wrote the ebook over a 5 week period but, it only took 7 days of actual writing -- that's because I wrote about a subject I know a heck of a lot about.

The website took about 30-days because I decided to use CSS instead of straight html -- so I had to get my CSS skills up to speed, which took time. The reason I went with CSS is because it allows me to make site-wide changes without having to update every page.

For shopping cart I went with clickbank -- which is not really a shopping cart but a payment gateway with affiliate program built in. Clickbank is essentially an affiliate directory or network and I want to give affiliates the chance to offer my product from their websites, blogs and in their email marketing -- clickbank makes this a cinch.

To host and run my site I went with extreme member because I know the guy who developed extreme member. I've seen firsthand the lengths he's gone to to create the most outstanding product available for creating and running an e-business. It basically automates everything. And I mean EVERYTHING.

Anyway, the ebook's done. Finished. Published and ready for sale. You can read about it by clicking on the image of the ebook above or by visiting this link: How to Write Articles People Want to Read.

If you want to write your own ebooks then the article writing secrets in my ebook will be useful for helping you write each of your ebook chapters -- which are essentially in depth articles anyway, aren't they?

Thanks for reading.

Later!

5 Day Ebook Writing Update - First Draft Complete

By MICHAEL LOW
Published: November 13, 2009

GOLD COAST, Australia, Nov. 13 --O.K. So I haven't posted here in almost a month. Big deal! I've been busy working on my ebook and other projects.

You're probably wondering how my ebook is coming along. After all, I said I was going to write it in 5 days and that was 5 weeks ago. So where am I up to?

Actually, I just finished the book and am having it proof read as we speak.

Is that bad that I wanted to write it in 5 days but took 5 weeks?

Personally I don't think so. What I do think is that taking extra time means I've done a much better job. But is that always true? Can you write an ebook in 5 days and still produce something of exceedingly high value? Personally I believe you can. And -- being a person who does not enjoy defeat -- I will again make an attempt to write an ebook in 5 days.

But not yet.

I need to get this first book proofed and published first. I'll let you know when it's available in case you want to acquire a copy. (It's really good, if I do say so myself!)

Anyway, now that I've given an update on my 5-day ebook writing project, I can talk about other topics useful to you as an ebook writer. So that's what I'll be writing about here over the next few weeks.

Things like:

Choosing a topic for your ebook

Selecting the all-important title

Choosing an ebook format - which formats to try and others to avoid

Writing tips for getting it done fast

How to sell it once it's written

And so on.

That's all for now.

5 Day Ebook Writing Update - Project on Hold

By MICHAEL LOW
Published: October 14, 2009

GOLD COAST, Australia, Oct. 14 -- I reached a point in the writing of my ebook that led me to realize I need a little more info before I can finish one of the chapters. As a result, I've stalled the project at day 3 and will come back and complete it next week.

I have however written the first few chapters and am extremely proud of what I have gotten down on paper.

I have also decided that, once the book is completed, I'll post the first chapter here on this blog.

Something else happened on day 3. I realized I already have the content for a second ebook. However, I am avoiding the temptation to move onto the second one until I finish the first.

I have mapped the second one out though. And I'll be ready to write it shortly.

In the mean time, I'm researching the missing pieces for the first book. I'll keep you posted and let you know when I begin writing it again.

5 Day Ebook Writing Update - Day 3 Part 1

By MICHAEL LOW
Published: October 8, 2009

GOLD COAST, Australia, Oct. 8 --While working on my ebook this morning I hit upon a point that sparked an idea for a new ebook. So instead of writing one ebook fast, I'm now writing two, in rapid succession.

More on this later. For now I'm putting most of my focus today into the writing of the first ebook. And it's coming along well.

So far I haven't written a full chapter as I had so many ideas to write down I just went ahead and wrote a lot of content for the first three chapters. So, although I don't have two full chapters written yet ( I really need 4 written by the end of today) I do have a lot of content in draft form. It just means I'll need to put in a big day today and spend a few hours tomorrow devoted entirely to editing.

One of the biggest challenges I'm facing is focus. I think this is because when you set yourself a big challenge, like writing an ebook in 5 days, part of your brain doesn't believe you can do it, and so, to avoid looking silly in case you fail to complete your goal, your brain starts looking for an escape hatch - an excuse for why you can't finish the task.

You need to fight against the temptation to give into the excuses. You need to refocus your mind on the task at hand and keep moving forward. Interestingly, as you press forward, you learn stuff that makes the work easier. This of course, wouldn't happen if you just gave up or changed the goal.

And so, I've leaned a few tricks to rapid ebook creation in the last two days. Things that will help me write a lot of ebooks at a rapid pace in the future. In fact, while spending some time planning this morning, I used some of the secrets I've learned to come up with topics for 4 new ebooks and a complete blue print for one of them. Cool, huh?

What about you? How's your ebook writing coming along? Or are you just reading this with interest but not taking any action? If you're not taking action, what's your excuse?

5 Day Ebook Writing Update - Day 2 part 1

By MICHAEL LOW
Published: October 7, 2009

GOLD COAST, Australia, Oct. 7 -- Today I'm moving into phase two of my 5 day rapid ebook writing experience. So far I've written a title for my ebook, outlined the five major sub-categories I want to cover, and written down a few ideas to cover in each section.

My goal today is to get at least one chapter written. If I can write two I'll be ahead of schedule. Which will be good as I'm not going to have a lot of time to work on my ebook on Saturday as I'm attending a conference.

What have I learned about rapid ebook writing so far?

If you choose a topic you have a deep interest in, and if you pull your finger out and get stuck into the work, ideas trickle at first, but as you work and as you focus, the trickle soon turns into a stream which turns into a raging torrent ... and ... before you know it, you've accomplished far more than you thought you would in such a short space of time.

I mean, I had no idea yesterday morning when I woke up that I was going to start writing an ebook. But now, a little over 24 hours later, I've got a working title, chapter outlines, and a couple of pages of ideas for content for each chapter.

fdfdf

The phrase "deeply interested" is important when selecting your ebook topic. This is because the word "deeply" has a neurological reference to the fact that you have a lot of stored information in your subconscious mind about the subject already - from years of interaction with the topic. This marvelous storehouse of information comes to your aid as you begin to "get your thoughts out" on paper or on the computer screen.

You come to realize the truth of this statement as you begin "brain storming" for ideas. You can't do a "brain dump" of ideas you don't have. You must already possess much of the information you need to write your ebook if you're going to write it rapidly.

That's not to say you can't write an ebook on a subject for which you have little interest or knowledge. It just means if you're going to choose such a topic then you need to be prepared to spend a lot of time in research mode.

Point being, make it easy for yourself by writing about stuff you have a high level of interest in.

5 Day Ebook Writing Update - Day 1 part 2

By MICHAEL LOW
Published: October 6, 2009

GOLD COAST, Australia, Oct. 6 - O.K. just a quick update on my ebook writing progress. So far, just 4 hours into the project, I've got a working title for my ebook and loose working titles for five of the chapters.

I've also come up with a title for a bonus report I'm going to give away to everyone who buys the main product.

I'd say that's a decent start. I can't reveal the topic yet as I don't want anyone to rip me off.

Actually, the ebook is going to be very interesting. I can't wait to read the finished product as it's a subject I'm very interested in ... and ... I think the people in my target audience are going to get a lot of benefit from reading it.

I may turn it into a larger course later as each chapter could potentially be turned into an ebook.

Anyway, what's next?

I'm about to jump in the car and take a trip to the library. There's an interesting collection of books there that should come in handy for my research.

Will I finish the ebook in 5 days?

I hope so. It seems quite daunting. But I'm guessing that's just because I've never written an ebook in 5 days before.

Ebook Writing in One Week or Less

By MICHAEL LOW
Published: October 6, 2009

GOLD COAST, Australia, Oct. 6 - Because it only take 6 days to write an ebook ... I've decided to write one this week. It's Tuesday, so I'll be writing it in 5 days instead of six. Which is cool. Because I'd rather take 5 days than 6.

Today I'll choose the topic, do some foundational research, and plan the chapter titles. Tomorrow I'll begin writing the chapters.

I'll also report on my progress each day by writing a short note here about the experience. Plus, I'll mention some of the tools I use to make writing and publishing my ebook easier.

Why am I writing about ebook creation on my personal blog and not on my business blog?

Because I think writing an ebook is a simple method anybody can use to make a little extra cash ... and frankly, cash is personal - it can change your life. So writing about ebook creation on my personal blog makes sense.

Perhaps I'll write more about the business of making money with ebooks in the future. But for now, I'm just going to write about the experience of writing a new ebook for which I haven't even decided upon a topic yet.

In other words, you're going to get the whole story, from start to finish. The brainstorming for ideas. The crafting of the idea into a decent title. The breaking down of the title into a chapter titles. The writing of each chapter, the publishing and finally the selling of the ebook.

I may even write about my experience getting traffic to the blog or website that will act as my online book store.

And who knows, I may even take it a step further and promote the ebook through affiliates. I have no affiliates yet as I don't even have a topic. But if I go down the affiliate path, I'll write about choosing affiliate software, finding and motivating affiliates, plus how to create all the affiliate tools to help them sell my ebook.

Wouldn't it be cool if I could not only write a decent ebook in 5 days but also show you how to add another income stream to your life? An income stream which you could build until it pays for your house, your car, your food and everything!

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. But this is where great ideas start - just talking about what is possible tends to make it more likely the once seemingly impossible will come to pass.

Anyway, this is just a post to announce what I'm doing: Writing an ebook in 5 days. If it turns into something bigger then so be it. But enough chatter. I've got work to do. Starting with a little research to help me choose my ebook title.
